Meditation in my life

Updated: Feb 7

Good morning Yoga Lovers!

Today I am going to talk to you about meditation and how it changed my life.

Meditation is normally a seated practice that requires concentration and lots of practice to achieve mental relaxation and inner peace. There are several types of meditation such as:

  • Guided meditation

  • loving-kindness meditation

  • Body scan meditation

  • Silent meditation

  • Zen meditation

  • Mindfulness meditation

  • Visualization meditation

  • Mantra based meditation

Meditation has been a part of my life since I introduced yoga in my life. For the last three years, meditation has helped me day by day a little more in dealing with stress, anxiety, negative thoughts, and all the struggles that life can bring. With meditation, I learned to focus on my breath, to observe my surroundings and myself, to embrace my thoughts, to calm my mind, and focus on the present. A meditation session does not need to be too long to have benefits. Just 10 minutes every day could do a difference in our lives. It is like a gift to ourselves to rest from our daily life routine and embrace all the benefits that meditation can give us. If you do not have the time to practice every day, don't worry, it's fine! Just do it when you have free time and for as long as you can.

If you are new to meditation and want to try it, read on for some simple meditation example that you can start with below.

How to meditate:

  1. Find a comfortable place that you can sit with your legs crossed or lie down. You can also use cushions to make yourself more comfortable.

  2. Close your eyes.

  3. Breathe naturally.

  4. Pay attention to your breathing and how your body moves with each inhalation and exhalation.

  5. If your mind starts to wander, bring your focus back to your breath.

You can practice this meditation for 3-5 minutes in the beginning and then try it for longer periods.

Some tips to make your chosen place more comfortable during a session:

  • You can use some candles and essential oils

  • You can use some blankets and cushions to make your corner more comfortable

  • You can use some low relaxation or meditation music.

Hope this article helps you start your journey through meditation to get all the benefits you need through it.
